Thank you all very much for the offers of baby-gear for Angela’s brother while he is in town to visit. I wanted to let everyone know that we got everything squared-awa y this morning and their family has everything they need for their stay.
Ang started her day of with a lengthy acupuncture session. She was very calm, cool, and collected. The same went for OT this afternoon. Ang actually worked with the OT today and her session was amazing. She was counting for him during her stretching exercises, enjoyed the deep tissue massage, which she was fighting last week, and there were no harsh words from her or scratching. She now has 140 degrees range of extension in her left arm, meaning that she can almost get it straight. With hard work and pushing the pain threshold she should be able to extend her arm to almost 180 degrees. She was also able to turn her arm today so that she could look at her palm. Way to go Ang!
PT was amazing today. THANK YOU, JESUS! After only the 4th time walking with PT, Ang was able to use a normal cane today. I’m guessing that she walked more than 40 feet in all during her session. She also put in 10 minutes on the seated elliptical. Her previous best was 7.5. She is going for another ten minutes tomorrow on a higher resistance setting. They are going to be getting Ang a smaller, less restrictive wheel chair so she can use her feet to get around since her left arm is broken and not responding yet. It will be great for her to have some freedom relative to going where she wants to go, when she wants to go there. We are also going to be working with PT this week to get approved to transport her to and from her hospital appointment s ourselves. We have to show them that we can transfer her from her chair to the car and back without any speed bumps. Last time we had to go to Harborview the trip went well, until we had to wait two hours for our ride back to Park West. It turned into a complete nightmare so if we can get her their ourselves I think things will run much smoother for everyone. Plus, we can take her for outings to Alki or run by the house, etc.
Ang also ate quite a bit today. She had teriyaki for lunch from Toshi’s by our house. She said it was “delicious”. It isn’t too hard to beat what the SNF considers food. My folks also dropped off a feta and spinach pizza from a little restaurant by their house that Ang really loves. She ate almost an entire piece. She continues to let us know that he stomach hurts, but we try to explain that she needs to eat more. Funny, I never in a million years thought I would need to convince my wife that she needs to eat…
I asked Ang what she would like to post on the bridge tonight. She simply asked that people pray for her.
Than k you all so much for continuing to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.
Be Well,
Jos h
