Ang got some rest.... in three hour bursts.... WOW does that take a toll on me! Oh well, I do remember when they were just 15 minute bursts so this does seem close to heaven.
Our trip to Harborview for a follow-up appointment had its ups and downs. Angela asked me to put my hand on her face while we drove and we did not hear one complaint from her about car sickness so that was a blessing. A bit of a contortionist positioning on my part from the back seat but hey! we do what we can.
I am not certain the doctors knew what we were there to have checked. It seemed a bit unorganized but Angela got to tell her story to the intake doc and it was confirmed she does not have a hernia and that she is progressing beautifully. In between times, Ang entertained us by asking every doctor who came within 15 feet of her if he was the one who had taken out her spleen. Needless to say this was not what the docs expected to hear. When she finally found one that owned up to the fact that it was his partner that took her spleen out, she grandly asked for it back with fava beans and chianti (Silence of the Lambs). It was quite obvious the doc had not seenSilence of the Lambs but Josh being the die hard movie fan was rolling with laughter and Angela loves being the ham.
Walking slowed down a bit until the therapists can correct some gait issues and loosen up some tightened muscles. We expect this to be quite temporary but ask for your prayers for a strong left leg!
We actually did hear an "I'm hungry" and this is indeed music to the Italian mama's ears. What food can I cram into you because (after all) food fixes anything? Right now Ang is on a soft bread, grilled cheese sandwich kick with strawberry yogurt. Katie's shepherds pie was well timed and much enjoyed as were Beth's cookies. There were some yummy smelling pumpkin muffins when I left tonight so we shall see what entices.
The highlight of Ang's day today was a promised visit from Paston Adam. She has some things to discuss!
NOTE: If you have signed up to be an afternoon reader, please accept our apologies and note a schedule change. In preparing us for Harborview, Parkwest has instituted a daily schedule for therapies. Speech therapy picked the 1:45 to 2:30 time slot so no 2:00pm readers can be accommodated. Once we get to Harborview and see the schedule, we can let you know what types of support will fit best into the new schedule. You are welcome to come be part of the PT cheering squad starting at 2:30 if you want but know you won't be reading.
Much love,
Teresa
