Words cannot express the joy felt today as Angela entertained 6 adults as if she was at home in her own living room (sans food) ....her cousin Cory and his wife Veronica, Sejal and Joe, Shauna, and Josh could have been sitting with Angela in her home. She laughed, joked, showed off, told stories, and generally engaged with people her own age as if it was no big deal. True, she was one whipped puppy when all the visiting was done but as a Mom, it was very delightful to observe the fun, playful Angela in action. It is a real joy to see her smile and to watch her face light up in fun and in joy.
Last night's sleeping was in 50 minute chunks. While certainly calm, appropriate, and loving....you just do not get restorative sleep in 50 minute chunks.....sigh.... I so wanted her to "wake up" and now I so want her to "sleep"....seems one cannot please her mother!
Angela had a participative acupuncture session today. I am excited to see how it impacts her sleeping tonight.
I echo Josh's comment about Ang being much more engaged in her therapy. She really listens to how the exercises should be done and coaches Josh and I now. "No, you need to press here" and "we need to do those hip transfer things". It is fantastic to have her being much more active in the process, the timing, and the outcome.
I also actually even heard my first..."Mom, when you have time, could you .... " WOW.... up til now we have only heard "I need this NOW". When you have time..... such a big deal.
Ang's brother, his wife, and the new baby arrive tomorrow late afternoon so it should be an emotional reunion. Angela is quite excited to meet her namesake Angelo and I am thrilled to be seeing my new grandbaby in person. Should be a fun time.
Off to sleep.
Love, Teresa
